Regular periodontal check-ups and cleanings i.e. scaling are recommended once or twice a year for adults for gum inflammation prevention.
Occasional bleeding from brushing is also a sign of inflammation in the gums and it is recommended to reinforce oral hygiene habits, brush effectively and have them checked and treated at regular annual cleanings. Patients who have poor oral hygiene, more plaque and calculus, and whose gums often bleed from brushing, bleeding from biting buns, or red and swollen gums with pus when they get a fire, should go to the dentist for examination and treatment as early as possible to avoid loose teeth falling out due to periodontitis.
