The incidence of cardiovascular disease in China is “blowout” growth, prevention and control situation is serious and worrying. At the Ministry of Health press conference on July 9, Kong Lingzhi, deputy director of the Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, revealed that China has entered a period of high burden of chronic diseases, with more than 260 million people diagnosed with chronic diseases, and the composition of deaths due to chronic diseases has risen to 85% of the total deaths of the population. The chronic diseases mentioned here refer to “cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases,” which are also the most important public health problems in the world. China is equivalent to 1 in 5 people are chronic disease patients; more worrying is that nearly 600 million people in China have one or more risk factors associated with chronic diseases, equivalent to nearly half of the country’s people in the threat of chronic diseases, of which nearly 85% of people are not older than 65 years old. In some regions, recruitment is also influenced by health factors, and in some construction teams there is not even enough healthy workforce without chronic diseases. This is the current state of our nation’s health. And the majority of our community does not know what chronic diseases, risk factors, and healthy lifestyles are. Risk factors associated with chronic disease are prevalent in our population, with 300 million people smoking, 80 percent of households exceeding the per capita intake of salt and cooking oil, and less than 12 percent of adults over the age of 18 participating in regular physical activity. More than 17% of adults drink to excess, with 12%-17% of those over 18 years of age drinking, and 4%-5% of heavy drinkers. The disease burden caused by chronic diseases accounts for 70% of the total disease burden in China, and if strong measures are not taken, the number of patients with major chronic diseases among people over 40 years of age in China will double in the next 20 years, and the burden caused by chronic diseases will increase by more than 80%. The most economical and easy preventive measures for cardiovascular disease are: smoking cessation, diet control and exercise. As cardiovascular doctors, we can communicate with the people face to face, we can make health knowledge into the community, into the countryside and into the square, so that they know what is healthy and what is a healthy lifestyle, and contribute to the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease. Hold high the banner of cardiovascular disease prevention, take action and be the leader of slow disease prevention and control In the face of the current epidemic situation of cardiovascular disease and other slow diseases in China, we must follow the requirements of the scientific concept of development to achieve scientific development and healthy development. We must hold high the banner of cardiovascular disease prevention, take action, be the leader of chronic disease prevention and control, health from the “heart” to lead a healthy China. We call for and appeal to all people to take action, change the concept, starting from me, and effectively turn the cause of cardiovascular disease prevention and control in China into the right track of “prevention”.
