How do I know if I am suitable for double eyelid surgery?

Single eyelids are not uniform, and when you look closely at each person’s single eyelid, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The upper eyelid is not an anatomical structure that exists on its own, but is part of the eye and the entire face. So many details of the upper eyelid, the entire eye, brow and forehead determine the choice of the surgeon’s surgical approach and how they operate during the procedure.       How to go about examining the details of your single eyelid: 1. A few single eyelids will be accompanied by ptosis, which is a lack of power to open the eyes provided by the levator muscle of the upper eyelid. Generally such single eyelids have as if they have a sleepy feeling of not being able to open their eyes. Look at yourself in the mirror, if the upper lid margin is about to cover the pupil, about your own upper lid levator muscle power is weak. The first is not suitable for buried lid surgery, and the second requires shortening of the levator muscle. 2. Check whether the size of your eye fissures are the same? Is the height of the eyebrows the same? For single eyelids with weak upper eyelid lift muscle on one side, it often relies on the power of the frontalis muscle on the same side to lift the eyebrows to equalize the width of the opening of both eyes. Press your eyebrows to eliminate the power of the frontalis muscle to assist in opening your eyes, and open your eyes to see if the width of your eyes are the same at this time. If they are not, it means that the power of the upper eyelid lift is not the same on both sides, which makes it unsuitable for buried lid surgery and will cause the height of the eyelid line to vary on both sides. 3. Look at the height between your eyes and eyebrows when you open your eyes, if the spacing is narrow then you are not very suitable for too wide double eyelids. 4. See if your upper eyelid is swollen. Generally, in single eyelids, the upper lid is not uniformly swollen, usually the outer and middle lids are more swollen, while the inner lids are sunken, requiring surgery to remove excess fat from the upper lid. There are also single eyelids where the upper lid is not swollen or even sunken. At this time, not only should the fat not be removed, but instead the fat needs to be filled into the sunken area, otherwise multiple heavy eyelid lines will easily form. 5., Look at whether your eyeballs are prominent, if they are very prominent, it is not advisable to choose a heavy lid line that is too wide, and it is easy to form multiple heavy lid lines. 6. Look at the direction of the eyelashes to see if you have ingrown eyelashes, if so it is possible to correct them with an incisional blepharoplasty. 7. See if you have an inner canthus, which is the skin covering the inner corner of the eye. If it is obvious, you need to do an eyelid surgery, otherwise it will affect the surgical effect of double eyelid surgery. 8., whether long-term paste double eyelids, long-term paste double eyelids will cause the upper eyelid skin relaxation, generally can only choose the incision method double eyelid surgery. 9. The distance between the two eyes is too wide, generally the distance between the two eyes should be equal to the length of their eye fissures, if it is too wide, then it may be caused by the inner canthus. If the distance between the two eyes is equal to the length of the eye fissure and still looks wide, then it may be a visual illusion caused by the nose root being too low. 10., Look for eye diseases such as conjunctivitis, which need to be treated promptly and healed before surgery.
