Genital herpes is a Western medical name, while in Chinese medicine it is called “chancre sores” and “yin sores”. The disease is clinically divided into two types: primary genital herpes and recurrent genital herpes. The actual fact is that 90% of the pathogens of genital herpes are herpes simplex type II viruses, which are infectious and can infect both men and women. At present, there are no specific drugs available for Western medicine. The main manifestations of primary genital herpes are: one or more small red papules with itching, followed by rapid transformation into small blisters. 3 to 5 days later the blisters break down, erode, crust and become painful. The rash is usually found on the glans, coronal sulcus, scrotum, urethra and penis body in men. In women, the rash occurs on the labia majora and minora, the vestibule, and the clitoris, and in 90% of women, it also invades the cervix. Recurrent genital herpes occurs mostly within 1 to 2 months after the primary, with frequent episodes of the rash, but with a shorter duration and milder symptoms.
