What are the factors that lead to frequent recurrence of genital herpes?

After primary infection with herpesvirus-2, the virus is latent in the lumbosacral ganglion and recurs with opportunistic activation, triggered by immune and non-immune factors, such as ultraviolet radiation, local skin injury (including sun exposure, surgery, hair removal, etc.), menstruation, mental stress, and febrile illness. According to domestic literature, genital herpes patients have clear social factors before recurrence, with excessive fatigue, mental stress and frequent sexual contact ranking in the top 3. The herpes recurrence can be caused by reacting with lymphocytes through hypothalamic neurotransmitters, which can suppress the immune function and cause recurrence; the tiny genital wounds after frequent sexual contact can increase the chance of virus invasion.
