Does a thyroid nodule with blood flow signal necessarily mean cancer?

In diagnostic imaging, an abundant blood flow signal around a thyroid nodule may indicate the presence of cancer. However, there are some special cases that require a judgment in conjunction with specific imaging reports. Malignant thyroid nodules with poorly defined surrounding tissue will have abnormalities in size, shape, and borders and the presence of abundant blood flow. However, the presence of abundant blood flow signals in thyroid nodules may also be related to the location of the nodule growth near the arteries and veins of the thyroid gland, which are rich in small blood vessels. It may also be associated with a localized break in the thyroid gland due to traumatic causes, or a nodule that has undergone cyst-like changes. To determine whether a nodule is malignant, a fine needle aspiration cytology examination is also required for pathological diagnosis. If the nodule is benign, a review every three months is recommended, followed by targeted treatment. If the nodule is malignant, surgery should be performed as soon as possible, together with peripheral lymph node dissection.
