Care baby fever according to the degree of treatment

When the baby’s axillary temperature is 37.5℃ or more or the anal temperature or ear temperature is 38℃ or more, it can be determined that the baby has a fever. Fever is a physiological reaction of baby’s body and a kind of body alarm. I. The body temperature is below 38.5℃ Since fever is a natural phenomenon to resist pathogenic invasion, so if mom and dad insist on reducing the fever for the baby, it will instead weaken the baby’s resistance. Generally speaking, if the baby’s body temperature is below 38.5℃, and he or she is not particularly uncomfortable and in good spirits, that is, eating, sleeping and playing as usual, there is no need to rush to the doctor or use fever-reducing medicine. You can use appropriate water and physical cooling methods. Baby fever we do not advocate “cover sweat”, so that the heat is not easy to disperse, the small baby within 3 months to take the “open package” open clothes, less clothing may have a gradual cooling effect, generally speaking, high fever baby should not cover the thick quilt. In general, babies with high fever should not be covered with thick blankets and should wear less clothes. However, in order to reduce the baby’s discomfort, mothers and fathers should pay special attention to the care. Unless the fever may cause cramps, it is not advisable to wake the baby in the middle of the night to take fever-reducing medicine; pay attention to water and electrolyte supplementation to avoid excessive yellow urine. You should always observe your baby’s mental state and appetite, and record the number of days of fever (you need to accurately calculate the number of days of fever), interval time, temperature change and other discomfort symptoms for your doctor’s reference. When the fever is around 38.5℃ or 39℃, you can first take the following physical cooling measures at home. Fever-reducing drugs can be used moderately, on the principle of using one drug at a time, to reduce the baby’s discomfort and prevent the occurrence of high fever convulsions. Ice or use ice pillow: when the baby’s body temperature 38.5 ℃, with ice bags on the forehead, both sides of the neck, can also be placed in the armpits and bilateral groin areas, homemade ice bags can be filled with crushed ice into a plastic bag, you can add the right amount of cold water, press out the air, the mouth of the bag tied. Or let the baby sleep on an ice pillow, both help the baby’s local heat to reduce fever. But be sure to pay attention to the ice bag outside the need to wrap a layer of cloth, to prevent local frostbite baby’s skin. General ice compresses, ice pillows are only suitable for slightly older babies, and for babies within 6 months can use commercially available fever patches to soothe some of the discomfort caused by high fever. Warm and wet compress: This is also a good method, that is, use a large towel warm and wet semi-dry on the baby’s chest and abdomen, but pay attention to the room temperature to avoid getting cold. In addition, you can also use a few slightly cool wet towels (about 25 ℃) wrung semi-dry, placed on the baby’s forehead, neck, armpits and thighs for cold compresses, every 5 to 7 minutes to change, the baby will also feel very comfortable. When the baby’s temperature rises above 38.5°C, the mommy should use physical cooling to help the baby dissipate heat while also supplementing it with appropriate fever-reducing medication. If your baby refuses to take oral medication, a fever reducing suppository is the best choice. This suppository is inserted through the anus and is absorbed mainly by the rectum, which has a relatively quick effect. However, it should be noted that the use of antipyretic suppositories its strong antipyretic effect, easy to reduce fever too much, resulting in a steep drop in body temperature, and the drug repeatedly stimulates the anus, but also easy to cause the baby diarrhea. Third, the body temperature in 39 ℃ to 40 ℃ For high body temperature (about 39 ℃ or more), irritable baby, soak in a warm bath (water temperature of about 36 ℃ to 37 ℃) and warm water bath is the most appropriate cooling method. Let the baby’s body (except the head) soak in water slightly below the body temperature of 2 ℃, while using a warm wet towel (37 ℃) in the limbs and front chest and back up and down evenly rubbed, so that the blood vessels on the surface of the skin dilate to promote the distribution of heat. Extremities and back each rubbing bath 3 to 5 minutes, rubbing to the armpits, groin and other vascular rich places stay a little longer. Each bath for about 10 to 15 minutes, about 4 to 6 hours a time. Alcohol bath can also be used, the alcohol used for disinfection is 75% concentration, for alcohol bath need to add 1 times the water, so that it becomes about 30% concentration. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently rub the armpits, under the neck, both sides of the thigh root, rub until the skin is slightly red, pay attention to protect the eyes and vulva so as not to flow into the solution to cause irritation and discomfort. After the bath, you should give your baby more warm water to replenish water. If the body temperature drops too quickly can appear cold limbs, shivering, chills, should be changed to warm measures, immediately stop the cooling measures. Fourth, the temperature exceeds 40 ℃ As fever is a symptom, not a disease, so to find out the cause of fever, is the primary purpose, the cause of baby fever is very many, usually by a virus or bacterial infection. The most common one is upper respiratory tract infection. In addition, infections in other areas such as roseola may also cause fever symptoms, and some children may have mild fever symptoms when vaccinations are administered. If your baby has a fever over 40°C (especially for babies under 3 years old), if the fever is not caused by vaccination; if there is a burning sensation in the urine; if the fever recedes for more than 24 hours and then recurs; and if the fever lasts for more than 72 hours, it is recommended to seek medical attention immediately to ensure your baby’s safety. According to statistics, regardless of the cause of the fever, the body temperature rarely exceeds 41°C. If it exceeds this temperature, immediate medical attention should be sought.
