”Tinea corporis is an infection of the epidermis that occurs in the groin, perineum, perianal area, and buttocks, and since the etiology and clinical manifestations are basically the same as those of tinea corporis, tinea corporis is a type of ringworm that occurs in these specific areas. It is mainly treated with various topical antifungal drugs. Currently, there are two main types of topical antifungal drugs used clinically to treat ringworm: azole antifungal drugs and arylamides antifungal drugs. The azoles include econazole, miconazole, ketoconazole, etc.; the representative drugs of the acrylamide class mainly include butenafine and terbinafine. Regardless of the topical antifungal treatment chosen, care needs to be taken to adhere to the medication for more than two weeks and to continue using it for one to two weeks after the lesions have subsided in order to reduce recurrence. It is important to avoid the use of irritating topical antifungal medications such as salicylic acid and benzoic acid preparations because the areas where ringworm develops are thin and tender skin areas or the junction of skin and mucous membranes. In addition, if ringworm is prolonged, it may present local chronic eczema-like or mossy hyperplasia due to long-term scratching and irritation. Such ringworm needs to be combined with topical antifungal drugs and topical preparations with anti-inflammatory effects in order to help relieve itching early and reduce scratching and promote the rash to subside as soon as possible.
