Normal blood pressure is a guarantee of normal fertility

Due to lifestyle changes, the incidence of hypertension in young people and even children is increasing dramatically. Hypertension is often accompanied by dyslipidemia, and the latter is closely related to insulin resistance. Many studies have demonstrated that even normal-weight hypertensive patients are associated with insulin resistance. Hypertension can be considered as prediabetes, and the risk of diabetes is doubled in hypertensive patients, and the incidence of cardiovascular disease is significantly increased when hypertension is accompanied by hyperglycemia. An important reason for this is the endothelial damage to the blood vessels caused by insulin resistance and the resulting pre-thrombotic state. Patients with hypertension are prone to spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, intrauterine growth retardation, and reduced quality of survival after birth, among other abnormalities. In addition, patients with pre-pregnancy hypertension should have strict and standardized blood pressure control before pregnancy, because pregnancy can aggravate hypertension and lead to worsening of hypertension, so it is important to figure out the appropriate medication for pregnancy under the guidance of an experienced internist before pregnancy. Reducing weight, maintaining a good mood, and getting enough sleep are very important basic treatments to control hypertension. It is important to avoid some misconceptions: for example, in order to have a child, high blood pressure should be tolerated and not medicated, so that the medication will not affect the child, not knowing that the problem caused by not using medication will be more serious and may cause serious complications for the mother and child or even placental abruption. In summary, in order to have a healthy baby, paying attention to your blood pressure and standardizing treatment when necessary will improve pregnancy outcomes; and improve the quality of survival of the mother and child.
