γγ83-year-old oldest man with a one-week intertrochanteric fracture of the femur. Since prolonged bed rest in the elderly can lead to very serious complications such as crushing pneumonia, deep vein thrombosis, decubitus ulcers, and urinary tract infections, which are often life-threatening, early mobility is especially important for elderly patients. For the above reasons, we advocate hip arthroplasty for elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture or femoral neck fracture in one stage, and the patient can walk on the ground 3 days after surgery to avoid the threat of fatal complications.γγThe patient walked on the ground three days after surgery and was discharged from the hospital without any problems.
