Take a few minutes to take your temperature

Temperature measurement generally takes 5-10 minutes, depending on how and where the temperature is taken. The three main clinical methods of temperature measurement are oral, axillary and anal. For adults, the clinical application of mercury thermometer is mainly used to measure the axillary temperature, because the production principle of mercury thermometer is to apply the characteristics of thermal expansion and contraction, so it takes about 5-10 minutes to accurately measure the body temperature. However, the anal temperature is higher, so it only takes 1-3 minutes to measure the anal temperature. For children, the most commonly used is the forehead temperature gun, this way it only takes 1-3 seconds to read the temperature. There is also an electronic axillary thermometer that automatically displays the temperature value in just a few seconds. It is recommended to measure the temperature by first shaking the thermometer to below 35°C and measuring it for a sufficient amount of time. When you choose axillary measurement, you also need to keep your armpits sweat-free. After the body temperature rises, the cause needs to be promptly identified and treated symptomatically.
