Is adenoma a cancer?

Adenomas are not necessarily cancerous and need to be determined by the specific location. There are various conditions of adenoma, including breast adenoma, thyroid adenoma, gastric adenoma, thymoma, etc. Among them, although gastric adenoma is a benign tumor, it has the possibility of malignant transformation if left untreated. In addition, thymoma can be divided into benign thymoma and malignant thymoma. If an invasive thymoma is cancerous and has a high degree of malignancy, it needs to be treated as early as possible. If it is necessary to determine whether the adenoma is cancerous or not, it should be treated surgically by performing intraoperative frozen section pathological tissue examination to determine the nature of the adenoma and subsequent management. If the adenoma is cancerous, the patient needs to actively cooperate with the physician to improve survival and quality of life. Patients with benign adenomas need to maintain regular follow-up examinations to monitor changes in their condition and to provide timely treatment in the event of abnormalities.
