If a patient has an increase in premature beats after lying down at night, there are usually physiological and pathological factors: First, for physiological factors, there is usually an increase in premature beats when the sympathetic nerve tone is increased, mostly due to overwork, mental tension, stress, fatigue, poor quality of rest and sleep, or drinking a lot of strong tea and coffee at night, drinking alcohol and smoking too much. All of them can cause too many premature contractions. Second, pathological factors, such as organic heart disease, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmias caused by various factors, acute myocarditis, or heart failure, may also increase premature beats. Thirdly, endocrine metabolic diseases, especially hyperthyroidism and hyperadrenocorticism, may also have this clinical manifestation. Fourthly, if the patient has phytodysfunction, especially in cardiac neurosis, this symptom may also occur.
