Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Diagnosis of Impotence

According to the identification points of the disease such as deficiency, cold and heat, internal organs and so on, impotence is generally categorized into vital fire failure (weakness of kidney yang of the organism, the function of warming and promoting the operation of qi and blood is reduced) evidence, deficiency of heart and spleen evidence, liver depression and stagnation of qi (poor qi and blood transportation of the liver and depression) evidence, panic and injury to kidneys evidence, and damp-heat underflow (the invasion of dampness and heat into the intestinal tract, bladder, pubic region, and lower limbs) evidence, and so on. Clinical manifestations of the syndrome of failure of vital fire include impotence of the penis or failure to raise the penis, loss of libido with lumbar and knee soreness (a feeling of soreness and weakness of the lumbar and knee), fear of cold, dizziness, tinnitus, and even diarrhea at five o’clock (diarrhea before dawn), and so on. Clinical manifestations of Heart and Spleen Deficiency include difficulty in raising the penis, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), insomnia and dreaminess, fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), yellowish color (yellowish color and lack of luster), low food intake and abdominal distension, and loose stools (sparse and unshaped feces). Clinical manifestations of Liver Depression and Qi Stagnation include penile inactivity, inactivity, boredom, depression, fullness and pain in the chest and ribs (chest and ribs), stuffiness and discomfort in the epigastric region, tai hua (sighing), and loose stools with little food. The clinical manifestations of the kidney injury syndrome are impotence or ejaculation, palpitation and timidity, sleepy nights, and fearfulness and frightfulness. Damp-heat injection evidence of impotence, scrotal swelling pain, dampness, sweating, itching, tenderness, abdominal distension, fatigue, drowsiness, bitter mouth, yellow hot burning pain in the urine, stools sticky and unpleasant. Patients with impotence are recommended to be treated under the guidance of a physician, and should not use medication on their own.
