Difference between resting hair loss and seborrheic hair loss

Resting alopecia and seborrheic alopecia can be distinguished in terms of etiology, clinical manifestations and regression.
1. Etiology: There are many causes of alopecia areata, including endocrine changes such as hypothyroidism, low or lack of nutritional intake, mental stress, post-partum, medication and other factors. Seborrheic alopecia, i.e. “androgenetic alopecia”, is caused by the damage of dihydrotestosterone to hair follicles over a long period of time, which is mainly related to heredity and the level of androgens in the body.
2. Clinical manifestations: Resting alopecia is characterized by diffuse hair loss, rarely involving more than 50% of the hair, and temporary thinning of the hair, most commonly in the postpartum period. Seborrheic alopecia generally starts from the sides of the forehead with a decrease in hair density, slenderness, thinning, gradually extending to the top of the head, the forehead hairline is M-shaped, the skin of the alopecia areata is smooth, accompanied by an increase in scalp oil secretion.
If you have hair loss, it is recommended that you go to the hospital in time, and be treated by the doctor after a clear diagnosis, so as not to delay the condition.
