The correct method of nose-dotting

If the nasal drops are taken in an incorrect position, the medicine will flow into the throat, which will not have the proper therapeutic effect, but will make the patient extremely uncomfortable and produce an irritating cough due to the smell of the nasal drops flowing into the throat. The correct method is: first of all, apply nasal rinse or water to clean the nasal cavity, blow out the excessive secretions in the nasal cavity, clean the nasal cavity, and then control the dry nasal cavity (about 10-30 minutes) so that the medicine will be in full contact with the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity when dropping the medicine, and will not be diluted by the secretions in the nasal cavity or nasal wash to reduce the effectiveness of the medicine. Secondly, when dropping the medicine, the patient should adopt the position that the nose is lower than the mouth, let the patient lie on his back on the bed and put a pillow under the shoulder, so that the nasal cavity is lower than the oropharynx, and the medicine will not flow into the oropharynx and feel discomfort when dropping the medicine (as shown in the figure below), and the nasal medicine can be distributed to the mucous membrane in the upper, middle and lower nasal passages, so that the medicine can be fully effective. However, it must be noted that patients with hypertension and cervical spondylosis cannot adopt such a position, but can be changed to semi-recumbent position, with the head inverted to the left when giving nasal drops to the right side and to the left when giving drops to the left side. After dropping the medicine, you should keep the position when dropping the medicine and lie down for 1-2 minutes to make the medicine take full effect. Then sit up slowly to avoid dizziness due to prolonged head suspension.
