Open lumbar spondylolisthesis surgery, or posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF surgery), is a more frequently used surgical procedure for the open treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis disease. PLIF surgery focuses on fusing two or more vertebrae. The procedure involves taking a small amount of bone tissue from the patient’s iliac bone or using artificial bone and filling it in between the two vertebrae to fuse the bone tissue of the two vertebrae together.
