How long can you live with grade 2 hypertension?

The length of time one can live with grade II hypertension cannot be generalized and is related to whether the patient is actively treated and whether there are comorbid risk factors. The criteria for grade II hypertension is a systolic blood pressure of 160-179 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure between 100-109 mmHg. If grade II hypertension is treated aggressively and effectively and there are no other complications, it basically does not affect or does not significantly affect the patient’s life expectancy. However, if not treated with long-term medication, the more comorbid risk factors there are, the more significant the reduction in patient life expectancy. Secondary hypertension risk stratification, if there are no cardiovascular risk factors or no more than 2 risk factors is intermediate risk, with 3 or more risk factors is high risk, with target organ damage or with complications, is very high risk. In addition, patients should strengthen self-management, improve treatment compliance, carry out home self-measurement of blood pressure, carry out systematic and regular blood pressure lowering treatment to bring blood pressure down to the normal range while ensuring target organ damage is prevented, and develop different blood pressure lowering programs according to individuals.
