Can thickening of the gallbladder wall be recovered?

Whether or not gallbladder wall thickening can be restored is also determined by the cause of the thickened gallbladder wall. Some causes of gallbladder wall thickening can be fully restored to normal gallbladder shape, such as acute cholecystitis. In the acute phase of cholecystitis, the wall of the gallbladder will show a marked uniform thickening and may even show a double-track sign. After the inflammation is controlled, the thickened gallbladder wall will be gradually relieved, and it can gradually return to the normal gallbladder wall shape within 3 months. However, there are some causes of gallbladder wall thickening that cannot be restored to normal form, such as gallbladder atrophy, gallbladder polyp-like lesions and gallbladder cancer, especially the latter two which often cause uneven thickening of the gallbladder wall and should be given great attention. The main causes are fibrosis of the gallbladder wall, scarring hyperplasia and occupying lesions. Only surgical removal of the gallbladder can achieve the clinical treatment effect.
