Can thickening of the gallbladder wall due to polypoid lesions of the gallbladder become cancerous?

Most polypoid lesions of the gallbladder are benign and a few can be carcinogenic.
The rate of carcinoma increases when there is a single broad-based polyp, a polyp larger than 1cm in diameter and gradually increasing in size, or a combination of gallbladder stones, especially in older patients with polyps over 2cm in diameter and aged 60 years or older.
