What to do if your baby has blood in the stool with enteritis

If the stool is yellow in color and contains a small amount of blood, there is no big problem. If the amount of blood is large, dark or red, you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment. Enteritis may cause pain in the abdomen or lead to more frequent stools because the intestinal mucosa may be damaged and there is blood leakage or exudation, so there will be blood in the bowel movement. The bleeding is less symptomatic and can be treated with oral antibiotics and oral intestinal probiotics such as bifidobacterium. At the same time, if milk allergy is not ruled out, it is recommended that the milk be replaced, for a short period of time, with deeply hydrolyzed milk or amino acid-based milk, until the child’s symptoms improve or disappear, and gradually transition to normal milk.
