Intestinal obstruction is the most common clinical condition and a common condition in gastrointestinal surgery. After colon cancer surgery, the most common causes of obstruction are adhesions and tumor recurrence. The duration of adhesions can last from several years after surgery, or even decades. Recurrence is usually fast in a few months, slow to 1-2 years, or even 5 or 10 years, and the time of occurrence varies, depending on the nature. Adhesions are usually abdominal exudates, inflammatory adhesions between intestinal tissues, increased secretions and mucus in patients, and excessive fibrin due to exudate absorption. Pain varies in severity, and patients may have abdominal distension and pain, as well as alternating constipation and diarrhea. Cancer pain and abdominal distension are more stubborn, CT and tumor series examination can be done to differentiate, PET-CT can be done if it is not good to differentiate. patients should have light diet after intestinal surgery, spicy, greasy and baked foods can promote the recurrence of tumor, regular chemotherapy and regular treatment according to steps can prevent cancer recurrence. Adhesions are related to the fine operation during surgery and patient’s physical condition. Early on, patients should get out of bed and use Chinese herbs and walk more to prevent adhesions leading to the manifestation of obstruction. The most common causes of obstruction are cancer recurrence and inflammatory adhesions, both of which can cause tumor anastomotic stenosis, and adhesions can cause intestinal tube extrusion, angular deformation or even strangulation, which can cause obstruction.
