The colon is the part of the large intestine between the cecum and rectum. The main physiological function of the colon is to absorb water and store food residues to form feces. Most of the patients with colon cancer are middle-aged or above, and about 50% of them will have liver metastasis. The clinical manifestations of colon cancer vary according to the size, location and pathological type of the lesion. Many patients with early stage colon cancer may have no symptoms clinically, but with the development of the disease and increasing lesions, a series of common symptoms of colon cancer may arise, such as increased frequency of stools, blood and mucus in stools, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, intestinal obstruction, as well as general weakness, weight loss and anemia. The alternating symptoms of blood in stool, diarrhea and constipation are typical. Early detection and early treatment is the key to colon cancer treatment. Before colon cancer metastasis occurs, there will definitely be related gastrointestinal symptoms, such as alternating diarrhea and constipation, blood in stool, and increased frequency of stool mentioned above. If colon cancer can be diagnosed and treated early, the survival time of general patients can be greatly extended. A balanced diet and good lifestyle habits are effective measures to prevent colon cancer. In terms of diet, do not be too partial or even go to extremes, eating only meat dishes or only vegetarian dishes are not desirable. Eating high-fat food is likely to cause intestinal lesions, while consuming too much dietary fiber may cause intestinal obstruction. Therefore the key to diet is to balance, a reasonable mix is the good way.
