Does drinking soda for reflux esophagitis help?

There are some effects of drinking soda in reflux esophagitis. Patients with reflux esophagitis have acid reflux and heartburn because of the dysfunction of the lower esophageal sphincter and other factors that cause stomach acid and bile to reflux into the esophagus through the cardia sphincter. The soda is filled with sodium bicarbonate, which can be alkaline and has a neutralizing effect on the stomach acid in our reflux esophagitis. So for patients with reflux esophagitis, drinking soda still has some effect in neutralizing stomach acid and reducing clinical symptoms such as reflux and heartburn. We do not recommend that patients with reflux esophagitis drink sweet drinks, sweet carbonated drinks, milk tea, etc., because too sweet drinks can lead to increased acid reflux while soda water is still possible.
