The difference between spinal tumor and spinal inflammation mainly includes pathogenesis and clinical manifestations.
1. Pathogenesis: The pathogenesis of primary and benign spinal tumors is not clear yet, and it is believed that they are mostly related to viral infection, environmental factors, gene mutation, etc. Metastatic spinal tumors are mostly secondary to breast tumors, lung tumors and other malignant tumors; the pathogenesis of inflammation of the spine is not clear yet, and it is mostly related to genetic, infectious and immune factors.
2. Clinical manifestations: no matter benign or malignant or metastatic spinal tumors, most of them manifest back pain, local mass, spinal deformity and neurological dysfunction, etc. Meanwhile, malignant tumors are also accompanied by systemic symptoms, such as low-grade fever, fatigue, malignant fluid, etc. While patients with spondylitis mainly manifest back pain, morning stiffness, pain in sacroiliac joints, limited joint movement, etc. Both diseases are multi-causal.
Both diseases are caused by multiple etiologic factors, and need to be combined with medical history, auxiliary examination and other comprehensive judgment.
