Fibrous histiocytoma is a benign tumor disease that has histiocytes and fibroblasts forming. Also known as dermatofibroma, fibrous histiocytoma often occurs on the extremities, back of the shoulders, and above the elbows. The disease causes oval or round nodules to appear on the affected area, but usually there is no discomfort other than itching. This disease usually does not require treatment, but if it affects the aesthetic appearance of the patient, it can be treated with medication such as tretinoin under the supervision of a doctor, which can reduce the size of the lesion. If the effect is not good through medication, the patient can be surgically removed completely from the affected area, but the surgical removal may leave a scar. When patients have lesions on their skin, they should go to the hospital for screening and diagnosis to avoid delays.
