How should tendonitis be treated?

In fact, this is a very big topic, if we want to talk about the causes, pathology, anatomy, and then treatment of tendonitis, I’m afraid we have to write a big chapter. The actual fact is that there is no time to write, and even if you do, many of your friends won’t have the heart to read it. I think there are only two things that people are concerned about, one is how to diagnose and the other is how to treat. Here, I am not going to talk about prevention, because this disease is really not very preventable. And it’s not a big problem, so it’s okay to treat it as soon as the symptoms appear. First of all, once tenosynovitis occurs in the hand and wrist, the first symptom is definitely pain, and only then will there be symptoms such as popping and movement disorders. The most common site of tendinitis in the hand is the thumb, with the painful area on the palmar side of the thumb near the metacarpophalangeal joint (where the fingers meet the palm of the hand), and most patients can feel a hard bump in this area. Some patients come to the clinic and tell me, “Doctor, I have a bone spur here, can you take a picture of it? I will tell them that it is just a thickening of the tendon sheath and that a film will not do anything but cost money. Some patients have significant catching and popping when extending and flexing the thumb, or in severe cases the movement is limited. So, with a few simple tests, tenosynovitis is relatively easy to diagnose definitively. The next step is to talk about the treatment of tendonitis. In fact, for most patients who are just in pain, the treatment is very simple. In short, there are four words: rest and hot compresses. In my experience, these two methods can solve most of the problems of early tendinitis patients. For those who do not have good results with the above mentioned treatments, they can also choose closure therapy or surgery. As for the choice of the two and their respective indications and complications, I will introduce them to you one by one in the subsequent articles.
