What’s wrong with coughing after lung surgery?

There are three main reasons for coughing after lung surgery: 1. lobectomy or segmental lung resection, because the bronchus is cut off, so there is irritation of the bronchial stump, causing coughing; 2. lung surgery requires general anesthesia and double-lumen tracheal intubation, the intubation has damage to the trachea and bronchial mucosa, and coughing occurs during the repair of the tracheal mucosa epithelium; 3. some patients have airway hyperresponsiveness, which is one of the reasons for coughing after surgery . The cough that appears after lung surgery is mostly dry, i.e. without sputum, lasting from 1-3 months, and gradually returns to normal. If the dry cough is obvious, take cough suppressant symptomatic drugs to deal with it without special intervention.
