Laryngeal cancer is a malignant tumor of the larynx associated with viral infection, hereditary factors, long-term smoking, etc. It is mostly found in middle-aged and elderly men. Most of the laryngeal cancers are detected due to symptoms. Hoarseness is a possible symptom in the early stage, but it is not specific, so it is often neglected. As the disease progresses, foreign body sensation in the pharynx, coughing and pain when swallowing may occur. Therefore, people with high risk factors such as smoking and family history of tumor should not ignore when hoarseness occurs and should go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the specific cause. Although laryngeal cancer is a kind of tumor with better prognosis, the better the laryngeal function is preserved and the longer the survival time will be when treatment is carried out at an early stage.
