Do you know about heel bone spurs?

Prevalent in middle-aged and elderly people, mostly without obvious cause, with pain under the heel. The anterior border of the heel tuberosity is markedly painful medially, and if the bone spur is large, a protrusion can be palpated. Passive dorsiflexion of the ankle joint may increase the pain under the heel. X-ray examination: the anterior edge of the heel tuberosity has a bird’s beak-like bone spur with the tip forward in line with the direction of the metatarsal tendon membrane. For acupuncture treatment, the acupuncture knife is used to cut and release the tip of the bone spur, so that the contracted and degenerated soft tissue is cut, and a small portion of the tendon membrane fibers are cut to stimulate the periosteum of the heel tuberosity to eliminate excessive tension and inflammation. Operation routine: The patient is positioned prone with a pillow in front of the ankle and the heel up, the foot is padded and stabilized, and the point is set at the most obvious point of pressure pain, i.e., the tip of the bone spur (combined with x-ray). According to the four-step protocol of small needle knife: pointing, orientation, pressure separation, stabbing, depth to the tip of the bone spur, make a transverse incision and peel, three or four strokes can be discharged.
