Lidocaine is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug that is not recommended or used clinically for the treatment of impotence.
Lidocaine is indicated for acute ventricular arrhythmias, including premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation, caused by acute myocardial infarction, surgery, digitalis intoxication and cardiac catheterization. It is also indicated in patients with persistent epilepsy and may also relieve tinnitus. The drug is not used to treat impotence.
Adverse effects of the drug include optic neuritis, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and, in high doses, severe sinus bradycardia, cardiac arrest, ventricular fibrillation, severe atrioventricular block, and decreased myocardial contractility.
People who are allergic to other amine local anesthetics may also be allergic to this product, and the drug is contraindicated in patients with severe heart block and As syndrome.
The drug should be taken under medical supervision and should not be used privately.
