Before each patient is discharged from the hospital, an individualized rehabilitation program is developed for each patient. The program is based on the patient’s own condition, including pre-operative joint mobility, assessment of muscle function, the site of surgery and the post-operative period, based on which a personalized rehabilitation program is developed. Post-operative muscle atrophy is a problem that many patients have, but it is difficult to avoid, depending on the surgery that the patient has had. However, some surgeries are not suitable for isometric contraction because it can affect the healing of the fracture site, so it also depends on the surgery performed. Prolonged braking can cause stiffness in the joint, and some patients may be scarred and stiff even with timely post-operative activities. I met a patient after total knee replacement who was doing functional exercises every day. When he was discharged from the hospital, he was able to move more than 90°, but after he went home, although he was still doing functional exercises, his mobility was still not ideal, but not as good as before he was discharged.
