What is tinnitus in pregnant women?

There are many clinical causes of tinnitus in pregnant women. The more common causes are poor sleep quality or excessive fatigue. Some patients have tinnitus due to changes in endocrine hormone levels during pregnancy, or neuropathic tinnitus due to neuropathy. It may also be caused by sudden deafness, Meniere’s disease, or in some cases, intracranial disease, with individual differences in the cause. After the onset of tinnitus, it is recommended to visit an otolaryngologist, who can perform an otoscopy to help determine the condition of the external auditory canal and periosteum. Pure tone audiometry and acoustic conductance testing can also be done to help determine the presence or absence of hearing loss. If there is hearing loss, the degree and type of hearing loss can also be clarified. Once the condition is clarified, targeted treatment can be given and regular review is needed to observe the effect.
