How is diabetes diagnosed?

The diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is based on the typical symptoms of “three more and one less” (excessive drinking, excessive urination, excessive eating, and weight loss) plus intravenous plasma glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L at any time of the day, fasting glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L, or glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L 2 hours after a glucose tolerance test, which can be diagnosed as diabetes mellitus if one of them is met. A diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is made when one of them is met. Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to multiple etiologies and is caused by defects in insulin secretion and/or utilization. Once elevated blood glucose levels are detected, you should go to the endocrinology department of a regular hospital for consultation and treatment under the guidance of a professional doctor to avoid delaying your condition.
