I. Initial consultation
When we first met with Ms. Zhou, she was a young woman with a fat body shape, scattered acne and acne on her face, and dark body hair on her upper lip. The patient reported the presence of irregular menstruation, often occurring once every 2-3 months, and was psychologically nervous, so she came to the hospital for consultation and treatment. Based on the observation and the patient’s description, a preliminary diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome can be made. Since patients with the disease are also often accompanied by symptoms of hirsutism, they say they have hirsutism and are advised to have further examination.
Second, treatment after
For the preliminary diagnosis of the disease, the patient was advised to undergo ultrasonography and serum hormone examination, etc. The ultrasonography results suggested that the patient had multiple cystic structures in both ovaries, and the serum hormone examination results suggested that the testosterone value of 3.07 nmol/L was significantly higher than the normal range, which could confirm the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome. Since the patient was young and not married, she was given medication, including oral diprogesterone tablets and cyproterone acetate tablets, etc. Since these drugs have some contraceptive effect, she was asked if she had any desire to have children in the near future before taking the medication. In addition, since the patient was mentally stressed due to the disease, she also needed psychological counseling to relax and ease her emotions.

Treatment effect
After medication and psychological counselling, the symptoms of irregular menstruation will be gradually relieved, while other uncomfortable symptoms such as psychological stress, acne and hirsutism will gradually improve. The drug treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome patients is relatively long, usually taking about 1 year of medication. Ms. Zhou’s weight will be relatively reduced after her symptoms are relieved, and she looks better and is full of energy when she is rechecked, and there is no relapse after stopping the medication.
IV. Notes
Seeing the patient’s symptoms improve, my heart is also very pleased. Patients should pay attention to balanced nutrition in their daily lives, and can eat some more nutritious fish and meat foods, and also pay attention to supplementing fresh vegetables and fruits. At the same time, patients are advised to do proper exercises, such as jogging, hiking, swimming, etc., which can help promote the body’s metabolism, thus enhancing the ability to resist diseases, and can help control weight. In addition, patients are advised to take proper rest, combine work and rest, avoid overworking or staying up late and other bad habits, and also pay attention to maintaining a relaxed and happy mood.
V. Personal insight
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a relatively common clinical gynecological disease that occurs in women of reproductive age, mainly manifesting as symptoms such as hirsutism and menstrual disorders. As long as they actively seek medical consultation, cooperate with doctors for corresponding treatment, and manage their daily life well, the discomfort caused by the disease can be effectively improved.
