The age of external ear reconstruction should be considered both physically and psychologically. Psychologically, children’s awareness of their bodies is usually formed by the age of 4-5 years, so it is ideal to perform ear reconstruction before the child enters school, so that he/she is not subjected to peer ridicule and psychological damage. This is unlikely to be possible before the age of 5 years, so the age of surgery is generally more appropriate before school age.
