Wuhan Cardiovascular Society Hypertension Group opens its first event of 2016
The Revision of the Chinese Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension was held in the afternoon of January 23, 2016 at the Wuhan Jinjiang International Hotel. Prof. Wang Wen, Secretary General of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center and the Chinese Hypertension Alliance and the Fu Wai Cardiovascular Hospital, came to Wuhan to participate in the discussion of the revision of the guidelines with the members of the Hypertension Group, including Prof. Liao Yuhua, Chairman of the Wuhan Cardiovascular Society, and Prof. Gu Ye, Head of the Hypertension Group. Prof. Wang Wen introduced the Revised Chinese Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension (4th edition), and Prof. Wang Zhaohui from Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital introduced “Hyperlipidemia with Diabetes: Blood Pressure Reduction Goals and Treatment Options”. The participating members discussed: 1) blood pressure measurement methods should be unified and standardized, and the importance of home self-measurement of blood pressure was emphasized; 2) target values of hypertension: the basic criteria of blood pressure control target <140/90 mmHg were unanimously agreed , blood pressure control target <150/90mmHg for elderly people over 80 years old, blood pressure control target <130/80mmHg for diabetes, blood pressure control target <130/80mmHg for chronic kidney disease, blood pressure control target <140/90mmHg for cerebrovascular disease, and blood pressure control target <120/80mmHg for coronary heart disease and heart failure.
