Most patients with episodes of tachycardia can have their symptoms eliminated or relieved with pharmacological treatment, but pharmacological treatment cannot cure pre-excitation syndrome.
Patients with episodes of supraventricular tachycardia only or those who have undergone successful radiofrequency ablation have a good prognosis.
A small number of patients with pre-excitation syndrome have strong atrioventricular collateral conduction and are at potential risk of sudden death if atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation occurs.
