Treatment after fracture

Fracture is a common injury in people’s life, a fracture is often more worried, as the saying goes, “it takes 100 days to break a bone”, which means that it is difficult to recover without a certain amount of time. Tian Mingbo, Department of Orthopedics, Zhengzhou People’s Hospital With the development of society, transportation and the way of production and life, people suffer different injury factors in their work life and the severity of the injury varies. 20 to 30 years ago, when industry and transportation were relatively undeveloped, limb fractures were relatively simple, but nowadays there are more and more complex fractures. The number of treatments has increased and the treatment conditions have improved greatly. So whether to use surgery or conservative treatment after a fracture? I believe that many friends are confused about this. In fact, the best way to treat a fracture is the one that is most beneficial to the healing process and has good results at a later stage. For example, if a child has a fracture of the forearm, the alignment of the fracture is still good after the manipulation, there is no obvious lateral angulation, and the plaster or splint fixation can maintain the fracture position, then conservative treatment can be used because children’s fractures heal faster and have stronger shaping ability; however, if an adult has a high demand for fracture treatment and requires early activity or is accompanied by nerve damage, then definitely consider surgical treatment. Similarly, for fractures affecting the joint surface or intra-articular fractures, surgery is mostly required to restore smoothness of the joint surface and reduce the occurrence of late traumatic arthritis.
