Exercise routine for rheumatoid arthritis

Activity period: appropriate rest should be taken to reduce joint pain, prevent the spread of inflammation, grade and reduce the damage of inflammation to arthritis; patients in this period can be lying, sitting or sitting on the head of the bed, passive or active movement of the limbs without weight bearing, exercises for elbow and knee flexion and extension, finger and wrist joint stretching and flexion and other movements. This can be done several times a day. Within the range of motion of the diseased joint, active static muscle contraction exercises are performed. (Muscles are tensed with force to maintain contraction for 5-10 seconds, 10 times in a row). The main exercises are knee extension and static contraction of the quadriceps. For joints with significant pain, the joint can be braked using wrist guards, knee pads, splints, etc., depending on the situation. However, the fixation time should not be too long. The fixation during the day should allow the fingers to move fully, or remove the fixation two or three times to facilitate the movement of the affected joint and the strength training of the joint muscles; at night, the joint should be given maximum support to keep the affected joint in a functional position. Exercise should be performed early; it should not cause severe pain during the exercise, and the pain should not last for 2 hours after the end of the exercise. The amount of exercise should be strictly controlled, starting from a small amount of exercise and gradually increasing, not overnight. In severe cases, absolute bed rest is recommended, alternating supine and lateral lying, and maintaining the functional position of the joints. In order to maintain joint mobility, a certain amount of joint activities should be done every day, within the movable range of joints, passive or active continuous full range of motion of each joint, with gentle and soothing movements. Such as arm extension, elbow flexion, shoulder lift, finger extension, fist clenching, knee extension, hip extension, ankle shaking and other exercises. Try to do the maximum each time. Even if there is mild local swelling and slight pain in the joint, you should still do it. Stable phase: More exercises with little or no weight on the joint are recommended. In this period, joint activities should be changed from passive to active movements. Finally, it is resistance exercise. However, various sports training should be done gradually. The medical gymnastics, taijiquan, gymnastics, swimming, etc. compiled by the ground for arthritis can help the rehabilitation of joints.
