How long does peritoneal cancer usually take from the time of detection to the time of death

The time of death in peritoneal cancer is mainly related to the type of cancer, treatment and individual patient factors, which should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and should not be generalized. Peritoneal cancer includes primary and secondary forms. In case of primary peritoneal cancer, it is usually asymptomatic or progresses in an insidious manner in the early stage and cannot be detected in time. After late detection of peritoneal cancer, the prognosis is poor, and patients usually die in about 15 months from the time of detection. In contrast, secondary peritoneal cancer is mainly metastasized from other diseases, which can lead to continuous development of the lesion. The time from detection to death of patients is usually about ten months, which varies from person to person. Therefore, it is recommended that patients with peritoneal cancer should be treated aggressively, such as systematic chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgical resection. Generally speaking, the prognosis of complete laparotomy is better than that without any treatment.
