Acute aortic coarctation mortality

The mortality rate of acute aortic coarctation is related to the staging. For example, acute aortic coarctation is divided into Debakey type and Stanford type, with Stanford type A having a higher mortality rate of 1% per hour at initial onset, which means that about 25% of patients will die at 24 hours, about 50% at 48 hours, and about 75% at 72 hours. When the disease enters the subacute phase, the mortality rate is approximately 75% after 2 weeks. type B entrapment has a relatively low mortality rate, with a lower mortality rate at 24 hours, approximately 10% within 2 weeks, and a 5-year survival rate of 75% if medical non-surgical treatment is performed.
