Home blood pressure measurement allows monitoring of daytime blood pressure in daily life conditions and obtaining short- and long-term blood pressure information. Electronic blood pressure monitors are easy to operate and are beneficial in improving compliance with treatment for patients with hypertension. Regular home blood pressure monitoring is actively recommended for all patients with hypertension and the elderly. Home blood pressure monitoring is recommended to use an upper-arm electronic blood pressure monitor and to acquire knowledge and skills for blood pressure measurement: 1. Use a validated electronic blood pressure monitor (BHS and AAMI, ESH standards). We use ESH standard. 2, home blood pressure value is generally lower than the office blood pressure value, the standard for hypertension is ≥ 135/85mmHg, corresponding to the office blood pressure of 140/90mmHg. 3, the measurement program: general situation recommended: daily measurement in the morning (6:00-9:00) and evening (18:00-21:00) each time, in strict accordance with the electronic blood pressure meter instructions method. Each measurement 2-3 times, take the average. For the initial measurement or the first diagnosis of hypertension, you can measure yourself for 7 consecutive days and take the average value of blood pressure of the last 6 days as the reference value. For individual patients who are unable to measure for 7 consecutive days, at least 3 consecutive days of measurement should be taken and the average of the blood pressure of the last 2 days should be used as the basis for evaluation reference. 4. It is advisable to record the date and time of each blood pressure measurement and all blood pressure readings in detail, rather than just the average. A complete blood pressure record should be provided to the physician whenever possible. 5. For those with stable blood pressure control, blood pressure can be monitored 1-2 days per week. 6. For patients with high mental anxiety, self-measurement of blood pressure is not recommended.
