In chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3, 4 and 5, patients may have different degrees of anemia, increased nocturia or decreased urine output and water-electrolyte imbalance, as well as different degrees of gastrointestinal and cardiovascular symptoms. It is usually believed that after entering this stage, renal function will deteriorate progressively until entering uremia stage. Modern medicine has used comprehensive therapy to slow down the progress of renal failure. In recent years, the treatment of chronic renal failure by traditional Chinese medicine has received more and more attention, and the aim of this study is to observe the therapeutic efficacy of Nephrotoxic Spirit Capsules in the treatment of patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRF) by tonifying the spleen and benefiting the kidney, nourishing the blood and activating the blood and resolving turbidities to pass through the internal organs as the main principle of the formula. Methods: All cases were routinely given low-salt, low-fat, high-quality low-protein diet (diabetic patients were given diabetic diet), blood pressure control (diabetic patients were given blood glucose control), correction of anemia, correction of acidosis and other conventional treatment. The treatment group was given Kidney Toxin Spirit Capsules on the basis of conventional treatment to replenish the spleen and benefit the kidneys, nourish the blood and activate blood circulation, and dissolve turbidity and pass the internal organs, with the following composition: raw Astragalus, Angelica sinensis, Ganoderma lucidum, Prepared Shouwu, Sichuan peony, peach kernel, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Caulis lupulus, Houpuo, Semenematodesia, Semenematodesia sinensis, Inulae vulgaris, Psyllium carinii, and rhubarb. Extracted by modern technology and packed in capsules, each capsule is 0.5g, each time 3-4 capsules three times a day. In the control group, on the basis of conventional Western medicine treatment, Haikun Renxi Capsules 0.44g, three times a day, were given orally to resolve turbidity and detoxify Chinese patent medicine. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks, and the changes of relevant indexes before and after treatment were observed. Results:The patients in the treatment group were significantly better than the conventional Western medicine treatment group in relieving clinical symptoms, lowering or delaying the rise of creatinine (Scr), urea nitrogen (BUN), blood potassium level, and improving anemia (p<0.05), and significantly delayed the entry into uremic stage and hemodialysis. Conclusion:Nephrotoxin capsule is an effective proprietary Chinese medicine for the treatment of chronic renal failure developed by Dr. Gao Jining on the basis of many years of clinical experience in treating renal diseases and combining with modern medicine. It is found that the pathogenesis of chronic renal failure is characterized by a wide range of disease sites, mixed cold and heat, positive deficiency and evil, and the treatment should seize the main contradiction of positive deficiency and evil. The positive deficiency has the difference of yin and yang, qi and blood deficiency, but the spleen and kidney qi deficiency is common. Evil real has external evil, water stop, dampness, fetish blood and other evidence. Based on the characteristics of the above pathomechanism, we developed the Kidney Toxin Spirit Capsule, which takes tonifying the spleen and kidney, nourishing the blood and activating the blood, resolving turbidities and clearing the internal organs as the main treatment, and takes raw Astragalus, Angelica sinensis, Ganoderma lucidum, Prepared Shouwu, Sichuan Shaoxao, Peach kernel, Danshen, Caulis lupulus, Houpao, Semenxia, Radix et Rhizoma Sandalwood, Inoselabia, Psyllium Heterophyllum, and Sheng Dahuang as the main ingredients. The results of the study showed that the drug combined with conventional Western medicine treatment has better efficacy in delaying the progression of chronic renal failure, and has the advantages of inexpensive, non-invasive and convenient, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
