Eight myths about infertility treatment

Infertility is defined as infertility without contraception for more than 2 years and is called infertility. The examination and treatment of infertility is a joint effort between the couple. Both men and women may suffer from systemic or reproductive disorders causing infertility. Female factors include: diseases of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterine cavity, cervix, and vagina. Male factors include: abnormal semen, obstruction of the vas deferens, genital malformations and systemic diseases. There are also factors of both men and women such as: lack of sexual knowledge, immune factors, psychological reasons, etc. At present, there are still many misconceptions about infertility examination and treatment, so we would like to talk about the common problems in this regard: Misconception 1: Only the female side is examined, but not the male side; or the female side is examined first and the male side is examined later. Myth 2: Some men think that if the semen test is not normal once, they think they have poor fertility and need to do it twice to confirm the diagnosis; Myth 3: If the female side is checked for tubal patency, only tubal lavage should be done. Some people think that tubal lavage is the treatment for tubal failure. To make an inappropriate analogy, can a blocked sewer be flushed with water? The answer is definitely no. You must have a professional unblocking of the waterway to do it. Repeated blind flushing can only increase the chance of infection; Myth 5: Some people think that the application of ovulation test paper or monitoring the basal body temperature to know whether there is ovulation, which is not comprehensive, combined with ultrasound examination. For example, some people can detect ovulation, but there may be no egg collection at all at the umbilical end of the fallopian tube, and the same cannot be conceived; Myth 6: Emphasis on treatment rather than examination, and gullibility in single prescriptions and secret ancestral recipes, in fact, the so-called single prescriptions and prescriptions are all prescriptions for menstrual regulation. Infertility is a symptom that can be caused by a variety of reasons, so single prescriptions and test prescriptions cannot cure it at all; Myth 7: Using ovulation-promoting drugs whenever ovulation does not occur without looking for the cause. There are many causes of infertility, not only ovulation problems, so the causes should be found and the right medicine should be used under the guidance of a doctor; Myth 8: IVF is the preferred method to treat infertility. In fact, it is not the preferred method, but the ultimate helpless choice. IVF is a milestone in assisted conception technology and is mainly used for infertility caused by absolute tubal incompetence and certain pelvic factors. IVF has a low success rate, is expensive, and does not treat the primary cause. Therefore, IVF is not the technique of choice for the treatment of most infertility cases.
