Can I die suddenly with chest tightness, chest pain and panic?

Help: I am 70 years old, and I often have chest tightness, chest pains, and panic attacks, and sometimes wake up with pain at night. Recently, it has been reported that some celebrities died suddenly at home while sleeping.      Wang Yi, Department of Cardiology, Shanghai First People’s Hospital: Recently, there have been reports of sudden deaths of movie stars at home, including the sudden death of Chairman Mao’s special actor Gu Yue at home, the untimely death of sketch actor Gao Xiumin, and comedian Hou Yaowen. These stories have sent shockwaves through the public, with patients often complaining that he or she is afraid to sleep deeply, fearing that he or she will just “fall asleep”. Indeed, sudden death accounts for 15-32% of all deaths and is a major public health problem that needs to be understood by the public. Sudden death can be divided into sudden cardiac death and non-cardiac sudden death. Of these, sudden cardiac death accounts for 60-70% and the main cause is coronary heart disease and its complications. Therefore, in a sense, preventing sudden death is to prevent and control coronary heart disease. Countermeasures: The most common symptoms of coronary heart disease are chest tightness and chest pain, but also manifest as toothache, throat discomfort, abdominal pain and diarrhea, shoulder and arm pain, and some without obvious symptoms. About 30% of chest pain is caused by myocardial ischemia in coronary heart disease, while most of it is non-cardiogenic chest pain, which has a smaller risk of sudden death. Therefore, patients like Mr. Zhao should first go to the hospital to find out the cause of chest pain. 1.Electrocardiogram, 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound should be routinely done, and optional exercise plate test, cardiac ECT, coronary CTA and coronary angiography should be done according to the doctor’s recommendation. 2. Once coronary artery disease is diagnosed, standard medication should be administered, coronary stenting or cardiac surgery coronary artery bypass grafting should be performed if necessary, and an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) can be installed to prevent sudden death in those who are at high risk of sudden death. In conclusion, coronary heart disease is caused by myocardial ischemia and hypoxia, and patients with coronary heart disease have a higher risk of sudden death than the general population. However, patients with coronary artery disease do not suffer from sudden death due to good sleep, rather good sleep will reduce myocardial oxygen consumption, which has the effect of reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death. Therefore, patients with coronary heart disease can sleep peacefully and boldly.
