Paediatric eczema is an allergic disease with lesions on the head, forehead and arms, manifesting as erythema, papules and pimples, requiring medication and prone to recurrence, whereas prickly heat is mostly associated with heat and humidity, occurring on the head, face and armpits, manifesting as pinhead-sized papules, closely spaced but not fused, with mild itching, burning and tingling, improving with cooler weather and generally not requiring medication.
