Post-operative pulmonary embolism mortality

Pulmonary embolism is a grade IV postoperative complication, and when it occurs, death can occur as a result of the condition, with a mortality rate of 10% within one hour of the attack and an overall mortality rate of more than 30% during the acute phase of the attack. Overall, the incidence and mortality rates vary for different patients, such as those who are over 50 years old, overly obese, have diabetes, underlying cardiopulmonary disease, or lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, which have relatively higher incidence and mortality rates. For patients who are hospitalized, the perioperative mortality rate is 0.4% and the probability of complications is 3%-17%. All kinds of surgeries have corresponding risks and accompanying complications, so it is important to prepare adequately before surgery and to clarify a series of symptoms that are indicative of surgery before proceeding with surgical treatment.
