In stage I syphilis patients, hard chancre may appear on the coronal groove, glans and foreskin of the penis. The typical hard chancre initially appears as a small red spot, then rapidly develops into a painless papule, which may expand to form a hard node within a few days, and necrosis and ulceration may occur.
