1.From the oblique position, it starts from the eyebrow or the arch of the eyebrow, extends downward to the back of the nose, the tip of the nose, and then turns to the nasal column below, ending at the combination of the nasal column and the upper lip, forming a smooth “S”-shaped curve. 2.From the frontal view, the contour line of both sides of the nose starts from the arch of the eyebrow, runs along the nasal bone, the lateral cartilage, the outer edge of the nose, through the nasal sulcus, and ends at the point where the nasal wing meets the upper lip, sloping slightly inward, also forming a smooth “S” curve. 3.The curve on both sides of the nasal crest is connected with the contour line of the nasal tip, forming a “U”-shaped curve with a small opening; and the curve of the nasal tip is a midline symmetrical “seagull wing”-shaped curve. 4.From the side, the frontal, nasal root, nasal dorsum, nasal tip, the combination of nasal tip and nasal column, the base of the nasal column as a line of “s” curve fully expresses the three-dimensional image of the nose. 5.At the root of the nose, through the adjustment of light, we can obtain an “H”-shaped edge-like curve, the middle horizontal line of “H” is equivalent to the position of the root of the nose, which is the lowest point. When studying a person’s nose, we are not looking at the nose in isolation, but at the forehead, the eyebrows and the arch of the eyebrows, through the middle of the face, then the nose, the upper lip, the lower jaw, and the chin, for an overall view. The contour of the external nose in different light and in different positions consists of curves, which are not only required by the surgical artist for pre-surgical planning, but are also important standard curves for the evaluation of the post-surgical results. Interruption or deformation of these curves will result in a change in the shape of the nose. The appearance may only be natural if the surgery restores the distorted curves of the external nose to match several of the above aesthetic curves. From the frontal view of the nasal root, both from the surface of the external nose and from the analysis of its bony structure, both sides of the nasal root are sloped upward and form a smooth connection with the brow arch; relatively speaking, the frontal bone directly above the nasal root forms a depression in the middle, which is roughly “V” shaped; however, from the lateral view, above the uppermost point of the nasal root, the anterior projection of the frontal bone The frontal bone still exceeds the nasal root. In addition, from our measurements, the most concave point of the external nasal root is generally higher than the most concave point of the bony nasal root (this point is mostly in the upper middle part of the nasal bone, not the anatomical nasal root point). These are the characteristics of the nasal root, and these characteristics require us to pay attention when performing rhinoplasty, especially when performing rhinoplasty: after locating the visual nasal root point (the most concave point at the root of the external nose), the uppermost point of the nasal dorsal graft should be slightly lower than this point (3-5mm) in order to form a more natural nasal shape; and at the connection between the nasal graft and the brow arch on both sides, attention should be paid to the creation of a natural smooth curve.
